xQc explains why he stands against paying Twitch mods, and he’s not the only one

Twitch Moderators and Why xQc Doesn’t Pay Them

Twitch moderators play a crucial role in managing streamer channels like Felix “xQc” Lengyel’s.

According to an official guide, their main task is to maintain chat behavior and content standards by removing offensive posts and spam.

As a streamer’s popularity grows, the chat becomes more volatile, and as a result, more moderators are necessary to ensure smooth operations. Streamers often pay their mods for their hard work, but xQc has a different perspective.

During one of his recent streams on Nov. 10, xQc explained why he doesn’t pay mods. He believes that moderators should do what they do out of passion, not for monetary gain, as the latter could lead to problems.

xQc expressed concern that if mods were motivated by money, they might continue moderating his channel even if they no longer liked it. This could create an awkward situation where he’s trying to explore creative ideas but his mods dislike them.

Additionally, xQc highlighted that the workload is shared among many active mods, rather than burdening just a few individuals.

Kai Cenat, who prompted the discussion, agreed with xQc’s stance and emphasized the voluntary nature of modding. Streamers who share this view include others in the community.
