Will Neff terminates HelloFresh collaboration due to labor concerns

100 Thieves content creator ends partnership with HelloFresh over worker unionization concerns

Will Neff, a content creator for 100 Thieves, has announced that he will no longer be partnering with HelloFresh due to concerns over the company’s working conditions and stance on worker unionization. Neff tweeted yesterday evening, stating that he was previously unaware of the issues faced by HelloFresh workers and has decided to end his partnership with the meal kit brand.

HelloFresh workers organizing for unionization

In recent months, HelloFresh workers across the U.S. have been organizing in an effort to establish the first-ever meal kit delivery labor union. However, federal documents reveal that HelloFresh is spending significant amounts of money on anti-union consultants, as reported by the Huffington Post.

Worker rights and safety concerns

Neff expressed his concerns, stating, “They are trying to union bust and are not being very good to their workers,” indicating that HelloFresh’s treatment of workers is problematic. NPR reported that despite experiencing a 70 percent increase in business since the pandemic, HelloFresh has been accused of failing to address workplace safety adequately and neglecting to compensate workers for on-the-job injuries.

Reactions and impact on Twitch community

Neff’s decision to end his partnership with HelloFresh has garnered attention within the Twitch community. Other Twitch partners, such as Sodapoppin and PaymoneyWubby, promote HelloFresh on their channels. Streamer Nick “nmplol” Polom highlighted the significance of Neff’s rejection, writing, “Everyone and their mom has been picked up by them.”

Debate and support

Neff’s stance on HelloFresh has sparked debate among Twitch users. Some have criticized him for continuing to stream on Twitch, which is owned by Amazon. Amazon has a history of discouraging unions, as revealed in a leaked video from 2018. However, others have applauded Neff’s decision, with Twitch partner Kaceytron stating that she would cancel her HelloFresh subscription. The People for Bernie Sanders Twitter account also thanked Neff for speaking out.

Impact on other content creators

Neff is not the only content creator to sever ties with HelloFresh recently. Twitch streamer Hasan Piker, a friend of Neff’s, explained that the H3H3 Leftovers podcast, which he co-hosts with Ethan Klein, has also cut ties with HelloFresh due to concerns over the company’s union-busting actions.
