What does “The Luddy” refer to?

The “Luddy” Dance Move Takes the Internet by Storm

A dance move known as the “Luddy,” created by YouTube star Ludwig, has become a viral sensation. It’s a fun and easy-to-learn dance move that has gained popularity after being posted by Twitch creator Kai Cenat.

Prior to TwitchCon, Cenat and his friends jokingly implied that Ludwig couldn’t dance well. However, when they attended the FaZe Clan TwitchCon party together, Ludwig decided to prove them wrong by showcasing his signature move.

Initially, Ludwig was laughed at for his dance move. But soon enough, everyone started trying the Luddy for themselves with varying degrees of success. The sensation has only grown since then.

The Origin of the Luddy

Ludwig revealed that the Luddy wasn’t an impulsive action. In fact, he has been doing the move since his high school days as a theater kid.

During an interview on his YouTube channel, Ludwig shared that he and a friend came up with the dance move to distract their fellow actors on stage. Little did he know that it would become a worldwide phenomenon.

How to Master the Luddy Dance Move

The Luddy’s eye-catching arm movement is just the beginning. According to Ludwig, the key to nailing the dance move lies in the footwork.

While the arm motion involves a simple 270-degree rotation, the quick leg pivots with each arm swing add a special touch to the dance move.

Ludwig advises dancers to keep their bodies turned in the direction of the swinging arm. As the hand swings, the dancer should pivot their heels back and forth, ensuring they land correctly at the top and bottom of each arm swing.

“It’s all about the pump,” Ludwig explained. “The heels always have to land on the right for every swing, at the peak and bottom. Everyone can do the arm swing, but you need to focus on getting the hips and heels out to the right with every rotation.”

It’s worth noting that Ludwig performs the dance move exclusively with his right arm. However, anyone who prefers their left arm can simply mirror the instructions.
