What does Amouranth’s Twitch name signify?

The Unique Origins of Twitch Star Amouranth’s Alias

Many Twitch stars are known by their aliases rather than their real names. Even when their real names become widely known, their friends and fans still refer to them by their aliases.

Sometimes, these aliases are a creative combination of their real name and something they love, like Imane “Pokimane” Anys. Other times, the aliases are completely unrelated, like Felix “xQc” Lengyel.

In most cases, there is an interesting story behind these aliases.

However, none are quite as amusing as Kaitlyn “Amouranth” Siragusa’s. The origin of her alias takes us back to her days as a popular cosplayer on DeviantArt, and it’s quite a fascinating tale.

During a chat with QTCinderella, the streamer explained, “I wanted an alias that wasn’t too feminine or too masculine because I would do Link cosplays and such.”

Amouranth added, “I didn’t want it to be obvious that I was a girl because I wanted to see how many people I could fool with my theatrical cosplays.”

Throughout the years, Amouranth successfully tricked many people with her cosplays. She shared with a laugh, “They would say, ‘I don’t know what you are, but it’s making me question my sexuality!'”

For this reason, she sought a unisex name. It didn’t take long for her to find the perfect one.

“While browsing a Latin names database, I came across ‘Amaranth’,” she revealed. “I thought, ‘That’s good enough,’ and I stuck with it. The spelling is different, but the version I wanted was already taken!”

Amouranth also shared that in Latin, the word ‘Amaranth’ translates to ‘unfading love,’ which represents her love for animals.

She never anticipated that this alias would become so well-known on the Amazon-owned platform. Today, it’s on the lips of over six million followers.
