Rachell “Valkyrae” Hofsetter, a streamer for over five years, recently made the decision to leave Twitch and join YouTube through an exclusivity deal. This deal was brokered by United Talent Agency (UTA), who represents Valkyrae. She gained popularity through playing Epic Games’ Fortnite and signed with 100 Thieves as a content creator. Now, Valkyrae can be seen playing various games and interacting with her viewers. interviewed Valkyrae about her move to YouTube and her plans for 2020.

Congratulations on your exclusivity deal with YouTube
In the interview, Valkyrae explained that there were several reasons for her switch to YouTube. One of the main benefits is the financial stability not only for herself but also for her family. She no longer has to worry about numbers and can focus on creating content that she’s proud of and that people will enjoy. Valkyrae also mentioned that being on YouTube gives her the freedom to explore other types of content beyond gaming, allowing her to expand her brand. She expressed excitement about working with the YouTube team to improve the streaming website as a whole.

YouTube is the best platform for livestreaming and content sharing
When asked if she shares the same opinion as CouRage, who stated that YouTube is the best platform for livestreaming, uploading, and sharing content, Valkyrae replied with a definite yes. She believes that YouTube is actively making positive changes to its livestreaming platform and prioritizing its improvement. Valkyrae expressed her excitement to be a part of this progress.

The impact of joining 100 Thieves Cash App content house
Moving into the 100 Thieves Cash App content house with Nadeshot and CouRage was a monumental step for Valkyrae’s streaming career in 2019. Sharing a space with her successful and experienced roommates has allowed her to learn a lot. Valkyrae mentioned that they have always been supportive, answering her questions and offering guidance.

The “If Jack is leaving then I am leaving” situation
In a YouTube announcement video by CouRage, Valkyrae made a comment that hinted at leaving 100 Thieves if Jack were to leave. However, Valkyrae clarified that the scene was not scripted and that she said it without realizing the literal interpretation. After discussing it, they decided to keep it in as a little Easter egg for those who noticed or questioned it.

Plans to give back to her family and community in 2020
Valkyrae expressed her commitment to her family as her main priority. She shared that they are currently working on rebuilding her mother’s home in the Philippines so she can eventually relocate there. Her mother lost her job three years ago, and Valkyrae has been financially supporting her since then. Valkyrae finds it fulfilling that gaming, which her mother introduced her to as a child, has come full circle in this way.

Excitement for upcoming games in 2020
While Valkyrae enjoys playing a variety of games, she expressed particular excitement for The Last of Us Part 2. She also mentioned that she will continue to grind “games that never end” like Fortnite and admitted that League of Legends has been addicting and fun recently.
