‘Utterly let down’: Kai Cenat shares thoughts on the troublesome New York City giveaway

Twitch Streamer Kai Cenat Breaks Silence After Riot at Fan Giveaway

Kai Cenat, one of Twitch’s most popular streamers, has finally spoken out about the recent riot that occurred during a fan giveaway in New York. In a 19-minute Twitch broadcast, his first since being arrested at the event, Kai expressed his disappointment over what happened.

Kai acknowledges that the events were unacceptable but also highlights how much power and influence he holds over his community.

During his Twitch stream on Aug. 9, Kai stated, “I am beyond disappointed with anyone who became destructive that day. That is not cool, and I want people to know that.”

A Huge Giveaway Turns Into Chaos

In Union Square, New York, Kai promised his fans a “huge giveaway” that attracted thousands of attendees hoping to win a free PlayStation 5. Unfortunately, chaos ensued, resulting in property damage.

A video circulating on social media showed a fan of Kai Cenat jumping on a car roof and smashing the windshield. Although Kai did not directly address the footage, he briefly commented on it in his livestream, questioning why such behavior occurred.

Kai emphasizes that events like this should be both safe and fun. He expresses his disappointment, stating, “We can’t just be running around destroying things. None of that is how I wanted any of this to go.”

Legal Consequences

As a consequence of the riot, which required extensive police intervention, Kai Cenat has been charged with two counts of inciting a riot and unlawful assembly. He anticipates streaming less in the near future and is scheduled to appear in court on Aug. 16.
