Benjamin “DrLupo” Lupo, a popular Twitch streamer, has built a reputation for his charitable efforts while gaming. It all started with a $100 wager on a game of Trials of Osiris in Destiny. DrLupo was confident in his skills, but rather than keeping the money, he decided to donate it to charity.
Though the opponent never showed up, DrLupo managed to raise nearly $11,000 for the National Fragile X Foundation. This marked the beginning of his journey to raise millions for various charities.
DrLupo’s largest achievement came last year when he raised $1,343,000 for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, making him the top content creator in terms of charity donations. This year, he has set an even higher goal.
As a father himself, DrLupo is passionate about supporting causes that fight against childhood cancer. He believes that it is unfair for children to have to battle this disease, regardless of their background or appearance.
DrLupo is not alone in his support of St. Jude. The St. Jude PLAY LIVE program, specifically designed for gamers and streamers, has attracted over 270 participants from 30 countries. Together, they hope to raise $2 million for the charity.
DrLupo, however, aims to go above and beyond this goal. His ultimate target is to raise $2.8 million, the cost of running St. Jude for a single day. He understands that this is an ambitious goal but remains humble and does not expect anything in return from his viewers.
