Update Required: Twitch Users Must Update to OBS Studio 27.2 by Month-end

OBS Studio Update Requires Twitch Streamers to Update Before February 28th

OBS Studio, the popular streaming software, has released its latest update, bringing new device support and additional features. However, this update comes with an expiry date for previous versions, requiring Twitch streamers to update to the new version to avoid any disruptions.

Important Announcement by OBS: Previous Versions of OBS Studio Will Be Deprecated

In a post on February 15th, OBS announced that starting Monday, February 28th, the previous versions of OBS Studio will become obsolete.

Update Required for Twitch Users: Why You Need to Update to 27.2 Before February Ends

This change is not initiated by OBS themselves, but rather by Twitch discontinuing their support for the older v5 API. Only version 27.2 and future patches of OBS Studio will be supported by Twitch, as they are built on the new API.

Along with fixing several bugs, OBS Studio 27.2 introduces various new features, such as support for AJA’s suite of devices, additional blend modes, a hotkey for browser refresh, and more. Windows users can now hide OBS from their capture to avoid any infinite feedback loops.

For a detailed list of changes in the new version, you can visit the official GitHub page.

If you are already using OBS, make sure to update your version either from within the app or through the project’s GitHub page. If you are new to OBS, you can directly install the latest version from GitHub.
