Unlikely Culprit Steals from Japanese Streamer During Livestream

IRL Twitch Streamer’s Food Gets Stolen by a Bird

Streamers who livestream in public often face dangerous situations, but one IRL streamer recently encountered a unique incident.

Tanuka, also known as crazy_japanese, is a popular Twitch streamer and teacher. With over 60,000 followers, she shares IRL content from Tokyo, aiming to showcase Japanese culture and history to her viewers.

During a recent stream, crazy_japanese showcased Tokyo’s street food. While she was holding up the food on a stick for a better view, it was unexpectedly stolen from her hand.

But this wasn’t a typical robbery. It turns out, a bird snatched the food from crazy_japanese’s hand, leaving her startled and even a bit scared. She couldn’t believe what had just happened.

According to crazy_japanese, the thief was a crow. Considering the abundance of crows in Tokyo, this isn’t surprising.

Over a decade ago, an NPR article highlighted the problem of crows becoming pests in Tokyo’s crowded city. Many people have experienced similar incidents, with crows swooping down to snatch trinkets and food. Despite efforts to combat the infestation, Tokyo had over 21,200 crows in 2010.

However, not everyone sees crows as a nuisance. In fact, Japanese scientists have been studying crows extensively and discovered that Tokyo’s crows are among the world’s wisest birds.

While not every crow in Japan is a genius, it seems crazy_japanese may have encountered one such intelligent bird. The swift thief managed to escape without much trouble, despite being caught on camera.
