Twitch to Witness the Return of Escape From Tarkov Drops

Twitch Announces New In-Game Drop Event for Escape from Tarkov

Twitch and Battlestate Games have partnered once again to bring players another exciting in-game drop event for survival shooter Escape from Tarkov. The event will take place from June 11 to 22, giving players the chance to earn valuable in-game items by watching streamers on Twitch. However, one of the game’s top content creators, Pestily, doesn’t seem too thrilled about the promotion.

A Successful Partnership

Back in 2019, Twitch and Battlestate Games collaborated on a drop event that rewarded players with meaningful in-game items. This event generated a significant amount of viewership for the game, making it the most-watched content on Twitch at the start of 2020.

An Opportunity for Players

In an effort to give players more chances to earn the rewards they desired, popular streamers like Pestily dedicated more time to broadcasting the game. However, Pestily, who has extensive knowledge of Escape from Tarkov, is not enthusiastic about the potential impact of these rewards on the game’s economy.

Pestily expressed his concerns on Twitter, stating, “Honestly… the economy is already in question. Why blow it out even more by adding 10 days of drops? This would be much better in the final 1-2 months of the wipe. Wipe July?”

During the first Twitch drop event for Escape from Tarkov, the game reached over 30 million hours watched in just one week. Pestily was the most-watched content creator during that time, accumulating 7.5 million hours watched.

However, Pestily seems less excited about participating in the upcoming event due to concerns about the game’s resources. As a survival game, Escape from Tarkov relies on players looting and surviving in each round to gather resources.

While this Twitch event will undoubtedly be a great promotion for the game, it may have a negative impact on the game’s balance and economy if it leads to an influx of gear carried by players.

Despite these concerns, Pestily announced on Twitch that he will be participating in the event’s first day with a 24-hour stream. Whether it’s for the better or worse of the game’s ecosystem, Pestily is ready to support the game that he has dedicated over 1,000 hours of streaming to this year alone.
