Twitch Begins Issuing Refunds to Dr Disrespect Subscribers
Following Dr Disrespect’s ban from Twitch, the streaming service is now refunding his subscribers. Subscribers received an email stating that their subscription money will be refunded within five business days.
Ban Confirmation and Speculation
Earlier in the day, Dr Disrespect was suddenly banned from Twitch. While initial speculation suggested it might be due to DMCA copyright strikes, esports insider Rod “Slasher” Breslau confirmed that the ban is permanent and not DMCA-related.
Previous Ban and Twitch’s Policy
Dr Disrespect was previously banned in 2019 for entering a bathroom with a camera at E3. Twitch’s policy states that the reason and length of a ban are only revealed to the streamer. In that instance, he couldn’t stream for two weeks.
Twitch’s Response and Community Guidelines
Twitch issued a statement mentioning that they take appropriate action when there is evidence of a streamer violating their Community Guidelines or Terms of Service. However, the statement did not specify which part of the guidelines or ToS Dr Disrespect had violated.
