Twitch Data Breach: Latest Updates and User Reassurance

Following the confirmation of a data breach by a malicious third party, Twitch has released an updated statement to address and reassure its users.

Details of the Breach

Yesterday, sensitive documents were leaked as part of a 125 GB torrent originating from 4Chan. The leaked files included Twitch application files, streamer earnings information, and unreleased Twitch-related products.

Error in Server Configuration Change

Twitch has attributed the data exposure to an error in a server configuration change.

Our investigation is ongoing, and we are in the process of analyzing all of the relevant logs and data to assess actual impact. For an update see https://t.co/mp8wndXv03

Twitch has clarified that their investigation is still ongoing, as they work to determine the full extent of the data leak. However, there is currently no indication that login credentials have been compromised.

Furthermore, Twitch stresses that full credit card numbers are not stored on their site, meaning they were not exposed in the breach.

Twitch continues to investigate the breach, and a more comprehensive update is expected in the near future.
