Twitch makes surprising announcement at TwitchCon reversing controversial partner rule

Twitch Allows Simulcasting on Any Platform

Twitch users can now easily simulcast their streams on any platform, according to the announcement made during the TwitchCon keynote today. Previously, this feature was only available for mobile apps like TikTok and Instagram, but now it extends to platforms like YouTube and Kick.

Expanded Guidelines and Freedom for Twitch Users

CEO Dan Clancy revealed the new guidelines, stating that broadcasters can now simultaneously stream on any live streaming service. This change comes in line with an update to Twitch’s Terms of Service, which aims to offer more freedom to streamers while ensuring that the Twitch user experience remains uncompromised.

Rules and Restrictions

While this expansion brings new opportunities, there are some important rules to follow. The stream experience on Twitch should be at a minimum, no less engaging than on other platforms or services. Users should not provide links that redirect viewers away from Twitch, and third-party services that merge chats or combine activity from other platforms should not be used during simulcasts.

Streamers’ Request Fulfilled

Streamers have long been requesting the ability to simulcast on other platforms without facing penalties or losing their partnership status. This change allows them to explore platforms like YouTube or Kick while potentially earning revenue on multiple sites simultaneously.

The simulcast rule change is now live, coinciding with the TwitchCon weekend in Las Vegas, which continues through Sunday, Oct. 22.
