Twitch introduces follower emotes for users

All Twitch Partners and Affiliates now have access to follower emotes

Twitch streamers who are Twitch Partners or Affiliates can now offer their viewers five follower emotes for free. Viewers can receive these emotes simply by following the streamer. Previously, only a few streamers had the ability to enable follower emotes, but now it is available to all Partners and Affiliates with instant upload eligibility.

Animated emotes coming soon for Affiliates

In a Twitter post, Twitch announced that they are working on bringing animated emotes to Affiliates as well. By the end of January, all Affiliates will have access to animated emotes. Currently, animated emotes are only available for Twitch Partners.

Requirements for instant upload eligibility

If Twitch Partners and Affiliates don’t already have access to instant upload eligibility, they can obtain it by meeting certain requirements set by Twitch. Partners must have been Partnered for at least 60 days and have had no infractions within the past 60 days. Affiliates must have streamed for a total of 60 days within the last two years, with the days not needing to be sequential. New Affiliates can’t count time prior to becoming an Affiliate. Additionally, their account must be in good standing.

How to add follower emotes

For streamers who have access to instant upload, they can add follower emotes through the creator dashboard. In the creator dashboard, go to the left-hand sidebar, select “Viewer Rewards,” then “Emotes.” In the “Slot Assignment” dropdown menu, choose “Follower.”

It’s important to note that follower emotes are specific to the channel and cannot be used globally on Twitch. Streamers have the option to reassign existing emotes or upload new ones.
