Twitch Achieves Over 1.7 Billion Hours Watched in November, Reports StreamElements and Arsenal

Twitch and Facebook Gaming Reach New Milestones in November

In November, according to StreamElements’ report, both Twitch and Facebook Gaming achieved new milestones. Twitch experienced an increase in overall viewership and witnessed interesting changes in the categories that streamers broadcast under.

Despite a slight dip in overall viewership, Facebook Gaming remained above the 300 million hours watched threshold it broke in June, according to data from Arsenal.gg, StreamElements’ analytics partner. Facebook Gaming has still seen a 100-percent year-over-year increase in viewership since November 2019.

Twitch Hits 1.7 Billion Hours Watched

In November, Twitch reached a new milestone of 1.7 billion hours watched. This represents a 0.5 percent increase from October and was primarily driven by the growing viewership of the platform’s Just Chatting category.

The Just Chatting category became the top category on Twitch in May and has continued to surge. It set a new viewership milestone with 228 million hours watched, more than double the second-highest category, League of Legends, which had 116 million hours watched last month.

Success for Just Chatting Category

The success of the Just Chatting category is evident with a 14-percent increase in watch time from October and a remarkable 246-percent year-over-year increase from late 2019 when the category started gaining popularity.

According to Streams Charts, former Counter-Strike player and coach Alexandre “Gaules” Borba was the most-watched streamer in November with around 16.2 million hours watched. Hasan “HasanAbi” Piker and Félix “xQc” Lengyel rounded out the top three, each attracting around 14.5 million hours watched.

Beauty and Body Art Category’s Remarkable Growth

Arsenal.gg also observed impressive growth in the Beauty and Body Art category, which saw a tremendous increase from just 32,000 hours watched in November 2019 to over 117,000 hours watched last month. In Q4 of 2020 alone, the category saw a viewership spike of 466,000 hours watched, marking a 441-percent increase.

However, the category’s highest viewership was in October with 349,000 hours watched, thanks to the usual content and the Halloween season attracting new viewers interested in costume-making and cosplay.
