In August 2022, Just Chatting accumulated over 261 million hours watched, slightly lower than the previous month’s 269 million hours watched. However, it is important to note that this number is higher compared to August 2021’s 248.6 million hours watched. The consistent growth in viewership of this category signifies overall growth for the Twitch platform.

Once again, League of Legends claimed the top spot as the most-watched game on Twitch in August, accumulating more than 133 million hours watched. Grand Theft Auto V followed closely behind, thanks to its popular role-play servers.
Esports Thrive in League of Legends
Esports competitions in League of Legends played a major role in its viewership numbers, with channels covering the LCK, LCS, and LEC ranking among the top. Eight out of the top 10 most-watched League channels in August were dedicated to esports coverage, including broadcasts in different languages. Notably, Tyler1 emerged as the top content creator in the game, accumulating 4.6 million hours watched and securing the fifth spot in the category.
Rust’s Rise with Twitch Rivals
Although not making it into the top 10, Rust experienced a significant increase in viewership with 36 million hours watched in August. This represented a more than 100 percent month-over-month growth. The surge in viewership was primarily driven by the Twitch Rivals tournament for Rust, which featured popular streamers like Disguised Toast, xQc, theGrefg, hJune, and Mendo.
