Top Twitch channels in October 2022: Gaules narrowly beats xQc for the number one position

XQc’s Twitch Numbers Affected By High-Profile Esports

XQc, the most-watched streamer this year, did not make it to the top three channels on Twitch last month. This can be attributed to the presence of major esports competitions during that period.

The official Riot channel dominated Twitch in October with 35.34 million hours watched for the League of Legends World Championship. The International’s main broadcast came in third with an impressive 12.59 million hours watched, according to Streams Charts.

Moreover, Gaules emerged as the top creator with 15.55 million hours watched. The majority of this viewership was due to over 740 hours of broadcast time dedicated to CS:GO competitions. Gaules prioritized airtime. Compared to the other channels in the top five, his channel had more than double the streamed hours, taking a quantity-over-quality approach to climb the ranks.

The following are the most-watched Twitch channels for October 2022, according to Streams Charts.

XQc’s Decline in Viewership

XQc experienced a noticeable decline in hours watched during October, directly linked to his reduced airtime for the month. The Juicer, known for streaming over 70 hours per week at times, only went live for 171 hours this past month. This is a 35 percent drop from the 261.5 hours in September.

The decrease in airtime can be attributed to TwitchCon, which XQc attended at the beginning of the month without streaming. Additionally, he took several consecutive days off throughout the month.

Kai Cenat’s Rise and TwitchCon

Kai Cenat’s growth as the breakout star on Twitch in 2022 continued in October, despite his lower stream time due in part to TwitchCon. Although his total airtime for the month was half of what it was in September, Kai witnessed a 46 percent increase in average viewership, reaching 71,722 viewers. This surpassed XQc’s viewership in October.

The increase in average viewership can be attributed to his collaboration with mainstream celebrity, Atlanta-based rapper Lil Baby. On October 20, Kai brought Lil Baby onto his channel, resulting in a peak viewership of 242,412, a personal best for him.
