TimTheTatman uses new titles to boost average viewership in 2019

TimTheTatman: A Streamer’s Evolution

TimTheTatman, a popular streamer, has seen his career evolve over the years by switching between different games. This strategy has helped him achieve consistent growth in average viewership in 2019.

Despite streaming fewer hours and having fewer followers compared to 2018, Tim’s average viewership exceeded 21,000, according to data from TwitchTracker.com. This number marks an increase from last year’s 20,000 viewers.

Average Viewership Ups and Downs

The increase in average viewership, however, came with a decrease in total hours watched on Twitch. This year, Tim accumulated 38.8 million hours watched, down from 41.5 million last year. He also experienced a decline in followers, dropping to 1.01 million from 1.82 million.

One significant factor in a streamer’s success is daily activity, which includes streaming consistently and for long hours. In Tim’s case, the decline in these categories can be attributed to streaming 21 fewer days and more than 200 fewer hours compared to the previous year.

A Year of Variety

What stands out the most about TimTheTatman’s year is his versatility. In the past, he relied on popular games like Fortnite, CS:GO, and Overwatch to grow his stream. However, this year, Tim has been a top streamer across multiple games.

While Fortnite remained his most-played game with 832 hours of airtime, he also streamed World of Warcraft for over 200 hours, particularly after the release of Classic. Additionally, he dedicated more than 100 hours to first-person shooters like Apex Legends and Call of Duty, a shift from the previous year when he only played two games for over 100 hours.

Consistent Stream Categories

Despite the rise of “Just Chatting” as a category on Twitch, Tim streamed about the same amount of this category as he did IRL (Just Chatting’s predecessor) and Just Chatting in 2018. He is known for interacting with his chatroom and engaging with the content they send him through donations, which he has consistently maintained throughout the year.

TimTheTatman’s Value to Twitch

Ending the year on a high note, Tim announced his decision to stay with Twitch in a multiyear streaming deal, following the moves of other popular streamers to different platforms. While he may not have the same viewership numbers as influencers like shroud or Ninja, Tim’s versatility and ability to maintain a stable viewership base across multiple games make him an asset to Twitch.

In the coming year, Tim may not experience significant growth, but his unique position as an influencer who can excel in various games solidifies his value to Twitch.
