TimTheTatman believes that skill-based matchmaking is detrimental to the gaming community

TimTheTatman’s Transition to Battle Royales and Frustration with Skill-Based Matchmaking

TimTheTatman, one of the most experienced streamers in the industry, has successfully evolved with the trends over time, which has contributed to his fortune.

In the early years of his streaming career, Tim played popular multiplayer games like Call of Duty, CS:GO, and Overwatch. However, as battle royale games gained prominence in the industry, he started focusing more on titles like Fortnite and Warzone.

One of the reasons for this transition is the interaction capabilities that battle royale games offer to content creators. Additionally, Tim believes that the negative impact of skill-based matchmaking (SBMM) on multiplayer games plays a significant role in the success of battle royales.

Tim stated, “If SBMM wasn’t a thing, I would stream multiplayer games. SBMM is, I dare say, killing video games.” He emphasized the frustration he feels when playing competitive multiplayer games with SBMM, as critical viewers in his chat often fail to realize that he is up against highly skilled opponents. Tim believes that these critics wouldn’t be able to perform at the same level in the matches he plays.

Even when Tim recently dipped his toes back into Overwatch with the release of Overwatch 2, he had been primarily focused on playing Warzone this year.
