Three different world records were achieved on the same day for Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury.

The Speedrunning Community Flocks to Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury on Nintendo Switch

The launch of the highly anticipated Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury on the Nintendo Switch has reignited the speedrunning community’s love for the Wii U game.

LuigiMaster, the world record holder for the original Super Mario 3D World any percent run, also holds the overall record for the newer version of the game. However, another talented Mario runner has managed to claim the top spot specifically for the additional content.

Fir, renowned for their impressive runs in Super Mario Odyssey and Hyper Light Drifter, has set a new world record for Bowser’s Fury 50 Shines with an impressive time of 40 minutes and eight seconds. This is nine seconds faster than the second-place run, which has also been officially recorded on speedrun.com.

Fir acknowledges that their record may not hold for long due to the high number of players currently grinding the game and the recent release on February 12. As players continue to discover new tricks and strategies within Bowser’s Fury, both the standalone section and the full Switch run for Super Mario 3D World are bound to see further reductions in their completion times.

At present, two categories are listed for Bowser’s Fury: a 50 Shine run and a 100 Shine run, with a time difference of approximately one hour. Veteran speedrunner P4ntz currently holds the record for the 100 Shines run with a time of one hour, 34 minutes, and 54 seconds, while also ranking eighth in the 50 Shines category with a time of 42 minutes and 24 seconds.
