Twitch Streamer Faces Backlash for Ignoring COVID-19 Symptoms and Engaging in Public Activities
Last week, popular Twitch streamer Dwight_LOL found himself in hot water after revealing on a livestream that he had boarded a plane despite experiencing COVID-19 symptoms. Moreover, he admitted to going to the gym after testing positive for the virus, sparking outrage among fellow streamers and viewers.
Although Dwight had shown symptoms of the virus, he chose not to wait in line for a COVID test and went on with his travel plans. Despite acknowledging that he had “a fever and muscle aches,” he claimed to be unaware of having COVID and suggested that he might have been infected prior to the flight.
When a fellow streamer suggested that he should have postponed his flight until receiving test results, Dwight defended his actions. He explained, “I tried to schedule the test as early as possible… but there was a two-hour line, so I decided to go home instead.” Despite concerns raised by viewers in the chat about the seriousness of his words, he dismissed them, stating, “Those old people on the plane didn’t care.”
Even after receiving positive test results, Dwight continued to venture out in public, risking further spread of the virus. When asked if he had gone to the gym the day after his test, he hesitated to answer. Eventually, he half-heartedly apologized before deleting the video-on-demand (VOD) and all related clips from his channel.
Widespread Condemnation for Dwight’s Reckless Actions
Dwight’s actions have faced widespread condemnation from fellow streamers, viewers, and observers. With the resurgence of COVID cases due to the Omicron variant, many countries are experiencing record-high infection rates. In this context, Dwight’s decision to potentially spread the virus through his actions has been heavily criticized. One commenter described his behavior as “selfish” and “a complete disregard for the safety of anybody around him.”
