Sodapoppin Expresses Annoyance over WoW Classic Wrath of the Lich King Servers

World of Warcraft Classic Pre-Patch for Wrath of the Lich King Now Live

Today, the pre-patch for World of Warcraft Classic’s Wrath of the Lich King expansion goes live. Sodapoppin, a well-known fan of the game, is excited to delve into more legacy WoW content.

Soda is specifically looking forward to joining one of the few fresh servers that Blizzard is creating for the Wrath expansion, offering players a unique experience.

A “fresh” server is a brand new server with no players on it. As part of Blizzard’s plan for Wrath, these servers do not allow character transfers from other servers. This eliminates or at least temporarily avoids issues like gold farming and inflation that can taint the game.

However, while waiting for the servers to open, Soda noticed something frustrating about Blizzard’s setup. Out of the four servers being launched, two will be in Europe and two in North America. Each region will have a PvP server and a normal server.

The problem Soda faces is the location of the North American PvP server, which is on the West Coast.

North American servers are divided into two regions, with the fresh PvE server located on the U.S. East, and the PvP server on the U.S. West.

This decision may come as a shock to many, as PvP servers are more popular among content creators, and U.S. East servers have a larger population due to their ability to attract players from both Europe and America.

“I don’t understand the reasoning for that considering a lot of EU people tend to play on NA,” Soda said. “They do. They just do, and ping actually matters in PvP. I really want to meet the person who’s going to tell me that ping matters heavily for PvE—in Wrath of the Lich King.”

Soda is not the only one perplexed by this decision. Expressing his disapproval, he became more agitated and even started yelling as he tried to process what he viewed as a baffling and misguided choice.

“I’m just so annoyed,” Soda exclaimed. “I want to be in that meeting. I want to be in the room when they’re deciding where to host the fresh Wrath of the Lich King server. West Coast? Who said yes? Why? It blows my mind… and it’s not even a big issue, it’s just the wrong decision. That’s why I’m so annoyed.”
