Shooting at German synagogue streamed live on Twitch

Two people killed in Germany synagogue shooting livestreamed on Twitch

Earlier today, a tragic incident took place in Halle, Germany, where two individuals were killed near a synagogue. The entire event was reportedly livestreamed on Twitch for over 35 minutes before it was eventually shut down. According to NBC News, the incident occurred on Yom Kippur, the holiest day in Judaism, and the victims were killed by a shooter armed with a makeshift gun and a grenade. Shots were fired outside a synagogue and a kebab shop, and a grenade was thrown into a Jewish cemetery. Local authorities have detained one person.

Shooter spreads Holocaust-denying propaganda during livestream

The shooter used Twitch to broadcast the horrifying act. Social media users claim that the livestream was disguised under the category for “Counter-Strike: Global Offensive” and remained live for over 35 minutes. This allowed the shooter to spread Holocaust-denying propaganda before initiating the attack.

“We are shocked and saddened by the tragedy that took place in Germany today,” said a Twitch spokesperson, expressing condolences. Twitch is actively working to remove all content related to the shooting and will suspend any accounts attempting to rebroadcast the footage.

Previous incidents of violence streamed on public platforms

This is not the first instance of a massacre being livestreamed or shared on a public platform. In March, a man in New Zealand killed 50 people at a mosque while streaming the attack on Facebook Live. Earlier this year, a young girl was murdered by one of her online followers, and photos of her death were spread on Discord, a messaging service for gamers.

Local police have not provided any updates regarding injuries or the status of the suspect at this time.
