Several prominent streamers, such as xQc and Yassuo, encounter problems with OBS and Twitch.

Twitch Streamers Experiencing Bitrate Problems with OBS

If you’ve tried streaming on Twitch, you may have encountered issues with the Open Broadcaster Software (OBS), which is commonly used by streamers. Well-known streamer and Overwatch pro Félix “xQc” Lengyel recently reached out to his fellow streamers for help with a bug in OBS that causes bitrate problems and 100-percent frame loss during broadcasts. Unfortunately, the only solution he’s found so far is to restart the stream, which is far from ideal for streamers who want to retain their viewers.

Multiple Streamers Affected

Other streamers, including League of Legends streamer Hammoudi “Yassuo” Abdalrhman, Overwatch streamer Fareeha, and variety streamer Esfand, also reported experiencing the same issues as xQc. They tried different Twitch servers and confirmed that their internet connections were fine, ruling out potential sources of the problem.

Possible Server Issues

Former Houston Outlaws player Lucas “Mendokusaii” Håkansson speculated that the problems could be related to the Texan Twitch servers. He switched to the West Twitch servers and didn’t encounter any frame loss or bitrate problems during his stream, indicating that the server location might be a contributing factor.

Twitch’s Responsibility

Despite the lack of an official response from Twitch, it’s in the platform’s best interest to address these issues because they are affecting multiple streamers with large audiences. Fixing any server-related problems would help Twitch retain its streamers and ensure smooth streaming experiences for everyone.
