Beloved Twitch streamer and OTV member DisguisedToast recently shed light on the inner workings of TwitchCon’s partner lounge and the secret VIP lounge reserved for the platform’s top creators.
TwitchCon Returns with a Bang
After a three-year hiatus due to the global pandemic, TwitchCon has finally made a comeback in North America. With hundreds of creators eagerly reconnecting with their viewers, communities, and fellow streamers, Twitch provided designated areas where partnered streamers could unwind and escape the constant fan interactions. However, DisguisedToast revealed that these areas may not be as relaxing for popular streamers as they were intended to be.
Top Streamers Still Face Fan Interactions
In an episode of the OTV podcast, DisguisedToast explained, “Even in the partner lounge, if you’re one of the top streamers, you will still get stopped for photos and signatures. People approach me as an equal, thinking that we’re on the same level, but in reality, we’re not.”
A Hidden VIP Lounge
To spare the platform’s most popular creators from an overwhelming number of fan encounters, DisguisedToast revealed that Twitch has secretly established a second partner lounge exclusively for VIP members. This exclusive lounge is highly selective, and many partnered streamers do not have access to it. Twitch prefers to keep this lounge under wraps, possibly to avoid any backlash from smaller streamers.
“There’s another area, a secret, exclusive, upper-tier partner lounge,” DisguisedToast further shared. “They discourage us from talking about it because when smaller streamers realize that they’re not being treated equally, it creates a disparity.”
While several TwitchCon attendees have confirmed the existence of this more exclusive partner lounge, some viewers have expressed concerns about DisguisedToast’s choice of words and defense of the VIP area.
