Pokimane Shares Harrowing Experience of Public Harassment
Pokimane, one of Twitch’s most well-known and popular streamers, recently revealed a distressing incident of public harassment in a Feb. 10 Instagram post. She wanted to raise awareness about this issue and urge her fans to prioritize their safety.
A Shocking Encounter
As Pokimane was walking back to a friend’s place, she was confronted by two men who started “hollering” at her. One of them even sang, “happy valentines day to youuu.” Caught off guard, Pokimane awkwardly responded, saying “uhh, you too.”
A Turn for the Worse
However, the situation quickly escalated from suspicious to dangerous. One of the men made inappropriate comments, saying, “you could be the milk to my cereal with that skirt” and “I wanna see what’s under that skirt. Show me what’s under that skirt.” Fearing for her safety, Pokimane ran away like a “track star.”
Speaking Out Against Harassment
Pokimane assured her fans that she was safe after the incident but expressed her frustration that someone thought it was acceptable or funny to yell such things at her, especially because she was alone. She also criticized the fact that the other person with him said nothing. She pleaded with her fans to “not be that guy.”
