Pokimane faces backlash for mocking fans who criticized the price of her cookies

Pokimane Faces Backlash for Insensitive Comments about Her Myna Cookies

Pokimane is facing backlash from her fans after she called them names like “broke” and “idiots” for complaining about the cost of her Myna cookies during her recent stream.

These cookies were launched on November 13 and are priced at $28 for a four-pack. Each pack contains four smaller bags, priced at $7 each. However, fans have voiced their concern about the high price, especially after seeing similar cookies at Costco for $9.99 for 14 ounces earlier this year. Some even claim that Pokimane’s cookies are simply rebranded versions of the ones found at Costco. However, the company denies these allegations and insists that the cookies have been in development for two years, according to a report from Dexerto.

Pokimane defended the price of her cookies during her stream on November 18. She first called those who criticized the price “idiots” for not realizing that it’s $28 for four bags, priced at $7 each. She also made fun of their math skills.

She then taunted them by saying, “If you’re broke, just say so!”

Her reaction received criticism from her streaming viewers. One person expressed disappointment with her comments, stating that they lose respect for someone who uses “broke” as an insult. Another person added that shaming people based on their economic status reinforces the idea that wealthy people are good and poor people are bad.

Even those who did not typically watch Pokimane’s streams but thought she seemed nice were shocked and let down by her remarks. Some even admitted that her biggest critics might have been right about her all along.

Some viewers pointed out that Pokimane’s comments did not consider additional shipping costs or a comparison to the similar cookies available at Costco for a cheaper price. They argued that focusing on the number of bags instead of the weight of the cookies was misleading, and accused her of having a bigger ego than brain.

It appears that Pokimane’s comments have only fueled more criticism towards her cookies.

Update: Pokimane Apologizes for Insensitive Remarks

On November 19, Pokimane addressed the backlash in a tweet, explaining that her comments were meant as a joke but acknowledging that they might have seemed insensitive. She apologized for that and admitted that the cookies might be expensive for some fans. She promised to consider changing the price of the cookies.
