PewDiePie’s Exclusive Streaming Contract: A Groundbreaking Partnership with YouTube

PewDiePie Partners with YouTube to Expand Livestreaming Content

PewDiePie, the popular YouTube creator, is venturing into the world of livestreaming by partnering exclusively with YouTube to bring more streaming content to his channel, as reported by The Washington Post.

Expressing his focus on livestreaming in 2020 and beyond, PewDiePie stated, “To be able to partner with YouTube and be at the forefront of new product features is special and exciting for the future.”

Despite having over 104 million subscribers, PewDiePie has not explored livestreaming extensively apart from a previous attempt with DLive last year.

PewDiePie gained his internet fame through his YouTube channel, which began in 2010. In 2019, he became the first individually owned YouTube channel to reach 100 million subscribers. Currently, his channel has over 104 million subscribers. In comparison, the most popular channel on Twitch before Ninja’s departure had 14 million subscribers, with Tfue now holding the title of the most popular channel boasting eight million subscribers.

These numbers significantly surpass PewDiePie’s, which were all accumulated through his YouTube channel. However, most, if not all, of the content on his channel is prerecorded and not streamed.

Given PewDiePie’s impressive following, it is understandable that he chose to partner with YouTube rather than another streaming platform, despite his brief collaboration with DLive. Although YouTube offers streaming options, it primarily functions as a video hosting platform rather than a livestreaming service. This partnership, however, may allow YouTube to further establish itself in the livestreaming scene.
