Over 55 Million Hours of World of Warcraft on Twitch Have Been Watched by Fans Since Classic Launched

World of Warcraft Classic Receives Overwhelming Support from its Community

If you’re a fan of nostalgia, you’ll be amazed at the incredible support that World of Warcraft Classic has received from its community. Since its release at the end of last month, players have spent over 55 million hours watching WoW Classic content on Twitch. According to statistics from Sullygnome.com, WoW Classic has dominated Twitch since its release.

On top of the impressive 55 million hours watched in just one week, Classic’s average viewer count has been around 380,000. To put that into perspective, this is similar to what you would expect from Fortnite as a whole or a major League of Legends event. Aside from the anticipation from the WoW community, some big names streaming the game have contributed to the huge spike in viewership.

Zack “Asmongold” has consistently been the top WoW streamer on Twitch for over a year. With the release of Classic, other well-known streamers like Chance “Sodapoppin” Morris have joined Asmongold and started streaming the game. Sodapoppin, who gained notoriety playing WoW, is now one of Twitch’s biggest variety streamers. Since the launch of Classic, he has consistently attracted over 40,000 average viewers in the past week.

Even surprising faces have jumped on the Classic bandwagon. Battle Royale fans might be surprised to learn that Michael “Shroud” Grzesiek has been enjoying WoW Classic. Shroud has even praised Asmongold for being such an entertaining WoW streamer.

If Shroud’s praise is any indication, WoW Classic appeals to a variety of gamers. One of the reasons why retail WoW struggles to attract new players is the overwhelming amount of expansions and complicated systems it has. Classic offers the opportunity to start Azeroth’s adventure from the beginning.
