October Streaming Charts Show Increase in Twitch Viewership, League of Legends and Dota 2 Take the Lead

Twitch and Facebook Gaming See Significant Growth in Viewership

Twitch and Facebook Gaming experienced a surge in viewership during October. According to Rainmaker, StreamElements’ analytics partner, Twitch reached its highest point in the last five months with 1.9 billion hours watched, while Facebook Gaming showed a remarkable 61 percent year-over-year growth, totaling 521 million hours watched since October 2020.

Major Events Boost Viewership on Twitch

The increase in viewership on Twitch can be largely attributed to the MOBA categories. Both League of Legends and Dota 2 hosted their biggest events of the year, resulting in a 98 percent and 189 percent growth in hours watched compared to September.

Dota and League Dominate Twitch

Between The International 10 and Worlds 2021, the top four channels on Twitch in October were focused on either Dota or League. Dota garnered a total of 97 million hours watched, while League almost caught up with Just Chatting, finishing at 205 million hours watched and becoming the second most-watched category on Twitch.

CS:GO, FIFA 22, and New World Also Show Increased Viewership

Apart from Dota and League, CS:GO and FIFA 22 were the only other categories to see a boost in viewership. Additionally, Amazon’s MMO, New World, maintained its strong position, holding fifth place with 83 million hours watched.

Top Channels and Record-Breaking Broadcasts

Gaules surpassed xQc as the top channel on Twitch, accumulating around 19 million hours watched. German streamer xRohat also made it to the top 10 with approximately seven million hours watched, thanks to streaming Grand Theft Auto V and incorporating the challenge of continuing the broadcast as long as new subscribers were gained. However, the official Riot Games channel, LCK_Korea, and the broadcasts for TI10 in English and Russian stole the show with a combined 44 million hours watched.
