MCC 21: Cyan Coyotes Triumph in Intense Minecraft Championships
The latest episode of the Minecraft Championships, MCC 21, aired on April 30. It was the second installment of the event in the second half of MCC season two and featured fierce competition among the ten teams.
Several changes were introduced for MCC 21, including a surprise based on an April Fools’ joke. Noxcrew, the organizers, added three dog-themed teams to the MCC hub for this event, selected from user suggestions.
During each break, players who reached one of the three dogs around the MCC hub gained an advantage. They could collect flowers from the dog, which could be used as extra votes in the Decision Dome, increasing the chances of their desired game being played next.
MCC 21 also introduced a new feature called “game remixes.” This allowed MCC contestants to temporarily change the rules of MCC games. Noxcrew collaborated with random MCC players to create a special event remix, where a chosen game and new rules were played.
In MCC 21, the game that underwent a remix was Battle Box. Noxcrew partnered with Moesh, a game designer for Mojang, who suggested adding two capture points for teams and using tridents as the only allowed weapon for the remix.
Other changes in MCC 21 included increased difficulty for Sands of Time, slight tweaks to Rocket Spleef Rush, a new map for Parkour Tag, adjusted coin payout for Grid Runners, two new rooms, a new map for Sky Battle, a return to an older Survival Games map, new platform and wall shapes, and a new map for Hole in the Wall. Additionally, six builds created by the community were featured in Big Sales at Buildmart, although the game itself was not played.
