Ludwig’s anticipated chessboxing event fell short without a prominent Twitch star attending.

Ludwig’s Chessboxing Championship: Was xQc Supposed to Participate?

The Chessboxing Championship organized by YouTube star Ludwig has created a lot of buzz on the internet, thanks to the participation of major influencers. However, rumors suggest that there was another big star who was supposed to be in the ring: Felix “xQc” Lengyel.

xQc, one of the first streamers to popularize the chess category on Twitch, initially faced some drama in the community. Therefore, it would have made sense for him to take part in the chessboxing event. But did he actually have plans to be there?

Did xQc Back Out of the Chessboxing Championship?

In a recent live stream, streamer William Neff claimed that xQc was supposed to attend the Chessboxing Championship.

“What you don’t know is that Connor was not supposed to be the opponent,” Neff said. “xQc was supposed to be the opponent. So xQc didn’t show up… I sat in xQc’s seat because I wanted to be closer to the Botez fight.”

While this claim seems plausible, there is currently no evidence that xQc was actually invited to Ludwig’s event. Some even speculate that Neff fabricated the story to mock xQc, who has a reputation for canceling commitments last minute.

In fact, Ludwig recently called out xQc for nearly bailing on a show he was meant to host in partnership with Ludwig’s streamer agency. Just a day before Juiced was set to be filmed, xQc went on stream and announced that he was entering a Twitch Rivals tournament, which coincided with the game show’s timing, leaving Ludwig shocked.

xQc has not responded to the accusations of ditching the chessboxing tournament. At present, it remains a mystery whether the former Overwatch League pro was actually intended to be part of the event.
