Ludwig receives false copyright infringement notice from verified Twitter “support” account

Fake Copyright Notices Leave Streamer Ludwig’s Twitter Account Suspended

As platforms crack down on copyright infringement, users are resorting to distributing fake copyright notices. Streamer Ludwig recently fell victim to one of these scams.

Ludwig initially tweeted that his Twitter account was being suspended due to copyright infringement. However, he later revealed that it was a scam, sharing the original message he received.

The fraudulent message came from a verified Twitter account pretending to be the Twitter Support team. However, the account’s handle was @2chibamino3, and it has since been locked.

The scammers messaged Ludwig, accusing him of copyright infringement and demanded that he follow a link to complete a feedback form within 24 hours. Failure to comply would result in his Twitter account being suspended.

Ludwig has called on Twitter to investigate the scam. Twitter has been working to improve its verification process to eliminate such accounts. It remains unclear how this particular account managed to gain verification, especially considering that Twitter typically doesn’t verify accounts with protected tweets. While Twitter plans to launch verification applications later this year, no specific date has been provided.

In the fight against copyright infringement scams, platforms like Twitter must continue their efforts to protect users and enhance security measures.
