Kai Cenat responds defiantly to Twitch warning over viewing prohibited streamer’s clip

Kai Cenat Clashes with Twitch Over Policies

Kai Cenat, an award-winning streamer and former top Twitch subscriber, has been facing issues with the platform in 2023.

On Jan. 26, just hours before his subathon was set to start, Cenat was banned for the fourth time in two years. The reason for his ban wasn’t disclosed, but it was speculated that it was due to his consumption of cannabis edibles during a stream. Fortunately, the 21-year-old star was unbanned three days later.

Tensions Rise as Cenat Challenges Twitch Policies

Since then, Cenat has become more vocal about his dissatisfaction with Twitch and its policies. He was particularly outraged when he received a warning from Twitch for reacting to a viral clip of a permanently banned YouTube star, iShowSpeed. Reacting to such clips is against Twitch’s rules, which displeased Cenat.

Expressing his disbelief, Cenat said, “I got a warning, bro, I got a warning. Like, deadass. Like, you can’t even react. Bro, what? Think about it, they’re off your platform and you can’t do nothing live, but you can’t react?”

Cenat firmly stands by his belief that streamers should be allowed to react to banned individuals and criticizes Twitch for trying to silence them, deeming it “extreme.”

Twitch’s Policy Explained

The clip that caused Cenat’s frustration was innocuous, consisting of a two-and-a-half-minute interaction between iShowSpeed and rapper Drake, in which the latter humorously hangs up the call. However, Twitch’s strict policy serves a purpose. It prevents streamers from evading suspensions by appearing on other channels, intentionally or unintentionally.

Possible Platform Change for Cenat

If things remain unchanged, Kai Cenat may consider looking for an alternative platform to migrate to. Adin Ross also believes that he and others could explore options like YouTube and Kick as potential alternatives.
