Twitch Rivals, Amazon’s esports and competition division, saw a surge in viewership in July thanks to its popular competitions hosted on the website. The division showcased trending titles, particularly leveraging the resurgence of Fall Guys to attract more viewers to its streams.
Initially established in February 2018, Twitch Rivals began hosting competitions in popular esports games like League of Legends. Participants included popular streamers, current or former esports professionals, and up-and-coming content creators on the platform.
Over the past year, Twitch Rivals has expanded its range of games, even organizing events for unlikely titles. However, the recent resurgence of Fall Guys significantly boosted viewership for Twitch Rivals streams, particularly those featuring Fall Guys competitions.
The two biggest Twitch Rivals events in July were the EMEA and North American Fall Guys Season One Showdowns. These events captured the most viewers, with a combined average of 339,935 viewers. EMEA had a peak of 228,648 viewers, while North America had 203,316 viewers, according to Streams Charts.
Participating in Twitch Rivals streams has lasting effects for streamers who leave their mark. The winners of the recent North American Season One Showdown, including ibabyrainbow, Anthemum89, Triump, and VoiceOverDonny, all experienced a sustained increase in various viewership metrics.
Twitch streamer Triumph, in particular, witnessed a significant rise in July. The Fall Guys winner saw a 115% increase in average viewership, a 180% increase in hours watched, a 193% increase in peak viewers, and gained nearly 2,500 new followers in the past 30 days, according to Streams Charts.
