GMHikaru Banned on Twitch After Watching Dr Disrespect on Stream
One of the popular chess streamers, GMHikaru, has been banned on Twitch today. The reason for his ban has yet to be confirmed by the platform, but Hikaru and his fans believe it is because he was watching Dr Disrespect on his stream.
Confirmation of the Ban
GMHikaru confirmed the reason for his three-day ban through a tweet. He mentioned that although Dr Disrespect had tweeted that things were settled with Twitch, it turns out he was wrong. Hikaru stated that he will see everyone in three days.
The Triggering Incident
The ban originated from a stream on March 16 where GMHikaru was watching Dr Disrespect play chess against fellow YouTube streamer DrLupo. Dr Disrespect was infamously banned from Twitch in June 2020, and since then, Twitch streamers have been cautious about interacting with him during their live streams to avoid suspension.
GMHikaru’s Twitch Career and Recognition
GMHikaru started streaming on Twitch on a sporadic basis in late 2017. However, it was when he played chess with xQc and commentated on the first-ever Pogchamps event that he gained the recognition he deserved and further solidified his place on Twitch.
