German Citizen Apologizes to South Korean Streamer for Racist Remarks Targeting Her

Livestreamer Gianee Lee encounters racism in Germany

Gianee Lee, a livestreamer, has faced multiple instances of racism while streaming from Germany. Despite this, she remains positive about her experience in the country.

The incidents gained attention from the German media, with Faz.net interviewing Lee about the racist encounters. She revealed that most people apologize when she confronts them about their behavior. In a recent livestream, a German individual approached her and expressed remorse, saying, “Welcome to Germany, I’m sorry about my German compatriots.”

The racist remarks initially occurred in a restaurant, where a couple of intoxicated Germans mocked Lee’s appearance because she is from South Korea. Unfortunately, this was not the only racist incident she faced while in Berlin.

While walking on the streets of Berlin, an uninvited Turkish man made offensive remarks like “ching chong ching chong” on her livestream, which made Lee uncomfortable.

Despite these encounters, Lee remains undeterred and has decided to extend her stay in Germany for an additional 30 days.
