GDQ’s Corona Relief Done Quick surpasses $400,000 goal for COVID-19 relief

The Games Done Quick team raises over $400,000 for COVID-19 relief

The Games Done Quick (GDQ) team recently raised more than $400,000 in support of Direct Relief, a humanitarian aid organization combating the COVID-19 pandemic. This incredible achievement was accomplished during GDQ’s special weekend event called Corona Relief Done Quick. The event featured numerous speedruns from various streamers.

A virtual event held during the pandemic

Corona Relief Done Quick was a mini version of GDQ’s popular events like SGDQ and AGDQ. However, due to social distancing and lockdown measures across the world, all participants played the games from the comfort of their own homes. Despite the virtual setup, the event brought together the gaming community for a great cause.

Milestone achieved and fan-favorite games showcased

During the weekend, GDQ showcased a variety of speedruns. Some of the highlighted games included the debut of Pokémon Sword and Shield, which ran for up to four hours. Fans were also treated to speedruns from beloved franchises such as Halo and Mario.

Looking ahead to SGDQ 2020

While fans eagerly await the next big GDQ event, they’ll have to exercise patience until August when SGDQ 2020 is scheduled to take place in Bloomington, Minnesota. However, the event’s occurrence will highly depend on the status of the COVID-19 pandemic at that time.
