Flame Fatales’ Speedrunning Event Generates $126,000+ for Malala Fund

The Flame Fatales Speedrunning Event Raises Over $126,000 for the Malala Fund

The Flame Fatales speedrunning event recently took place and successfully raised more than $126,000 in support of the Malala Fund.

The event, organized by Games Done Quick and the Frame Fatales all-female speedrunning community, was held virtually on Twitch and the GDQ website. Women from all over the world showcased their skills by completing their favorite games in record time to raise funds for a noble cause. The group had previously organized the Fleet Fatales event, which raised over $80,000 for charity. However, the Flame Fatales event this year surpassed that achievement by collecting a total of $126,862.40 for the Malala Fund.

The event featured a wide variety of games and genres. Some noteworthy performances included therpgchick’s run of Legend of Mana, Char_Bunny’s run of Super Mario Maker on Nintendo 3DS, and Fell’s run of a custom map in Celeste. Although these runs were originally streamed on Twitch, they can now be found on the Games Done Quick YouTube channel.

Regardless of the games chosen by the players, a supportive and inclusive atmosphere permeated throughout the event. The Malala Fund, the beneficiary of this year’s donations, is an organization that aids underprivileged girls in obtaining an education around the world. Previous charitable partners of Games Done Quick include Doctors Without Borders, AbleGamers, Organization for Autism Research, and Prevent Cancer Foundation.

The Frame Fatales shows no signs of slowing down. The next event, Frost Fatales, is already scheduled to take place from February 27 to March 5, 2022. It is definitely worth keeping an eye on these remarkable women as they continue to conquer the world of speedrunning.
