Fans express anger over Dream’s comments on doxxing

Dream Faces Backlash for Response to Hateful Message on Twitter

Well-known Minecraft content creator and streamer, Dream, received heavy criticism recently for his handling of a hateful message on Twitter. Fans of Dream doxxed the user in question, leading to a wave of outrage. Dream then addressed the issue during a Twitch broadcast, sparking even more controversy.

On April 11, Dream’s reply to a certain user caused them to receive harassment and ultimately resulted in them having to make their Twitter account private. They were also doxxed, which involves the unauthorized disclosure of personal information on the internet. In the face of backlash, Dream defended his actions, expressing satisfaction when users choose to make their accounts private after being called out by him.

Many people believed that Dream’s behavior was dangerous and irresponsible, given his large and devoted fan base. However, the drama did not stop there. During a Just Chatting stream on April 13, Dream addressed the act of doxxing and appeared to downplay its severity.

Dream stated, “If you are a person on Twitter with only seven followers and you get doxxed, the chances of something actually happening to you in your life are so incredibly small that it’s not worth worrying about.”

In response to the backlash, Dream issued a statement on his secondary Twitter account, acknowledging that his words during the stream were poorly phrased. He clarified his actual stance, stating that anyone who engages in doxxing or harassment does not belong to his community and is not supported by him.

Since then, there have been reports of Dream’s personal information being leaked by other Twitter users.
