Facebook Gaming Launches New Stand-alone App on iOS
Facebook Gaming has announced the launch of a new stand-alone app for iOS. This app focuses solely on livestreaming games and eliminates the traditional functionality of Facebook. You can download the app now.
Enhanced Livestreaming Experience
When you download the app, simply log in with your Facebook account. You will then be taken to a screen showing suggested games, followed games, and followed streamers. If you’re familiar with Twitch or Mixer on iOS, you’ll have an idea of what to expect from this gaming service.
A Boost for Creators and Viewers
This app is a huge development for Facebook Gaming creators. Many viewers watch gaming content on their phones, so this app will undoubtedly benefit creators. It’s worth noting that while Facebook initially planned to include actual games on the app, this functionality was removed due to Apple’s rejection based on App Store guideline 4.7.
Apple’s Rejection
Facebook stated that Apple rejected their app, claiming that its primary purpose is to play games, which goes against their guidelines. However, Facebook argued that around 95% of app activity on Android is focused on watching livestreams. Unfortunately, their argument did not convince Apple.
