ELEAGUE Inks a Multi-Year Contract for Twitch Streaming

Good News for Esports Fans: Counter-Strike League to be Streamed on Twitch

Great news for esports fans who have cut the cord: You do not need a cable subscription to watch the first-ever Counter-Strike league to be broadcast on a major American TV network.

Turner Broadcasting’s Counter-Strike: Global Offensive competition, ELEAGUE, will kick off on Tuesday. The tournament will be available for viewers to watch from start to finish on Twitch, as announced by both companies.

ELEAGUE: A Collaboration Between Turner and WME | IMG

ELEAGUE is a joint venture between Turner and talent management agency WME | IMG. This competition features two 10-week tournaments with 24 of the best CS:GO teams from around the world vying for their share of $2.4 million. Each season offers a prize of $1.2 million. The teams will compete live from the new ELEAGUE studio in Atlanta.

Twitch Collaboration and Streaming Schedule

Turner and WME | IMG have entered into a multi-year agreement with Twitch to distribute on-demand content as well as live competitions. The ELEAGUE Twitch channel will stream the competition every Tuesday and Wednesday from 12pm ET, with six games per day. On Thursdays, there will be best-of-three coverage starting from 2pm ET. The Friday night weekly finale, a best-of-three match, will be televised on TBS and simultaneously broadcasted on Twitch from 10pm ET. In the first six weeks, four teams will compete each week in a group stage, and the winners will advance to the playoffs.

ELEAGUE Connects with the Twitch Gaming Community

ELEAGUE’s general manager, Christina Alejandre, stated, “Twitch has become the go-to live streaming destination for millions of gamers worldwide, and we are excited to directly engage with ELEAGUE’s passionate community.” This collaboration with Twitch allows Turner and WME | IMG to ensure that their league is accessible to the same platform as their fans.

Twitch has over 100 million unique viewers every month. Streaming the games on Twitch is a strategic move that allows Turner and WME | IMG to reach their league’s target audience.
