E3 Breaks Streaming Records on Twitch
Nintendo, Sony, and Microsoft battled it out at E3, but it was streaming giant Twitch that emerged as the true winner. With over 21 million unique viewers and 11 million hours watched, Twitch’s coverage of the five-day event more than doubled from the previous year. Twitch covered eight press conferences and hosted 85 segments featuring upcoming games and content.
Twitch’s Director of Programming, Marcus Graham, stated, “No other live streaming platform came close to the success the Twitch community achieved. Live social video is definitely one of the major trends coming out of E3.”
Twitch also partnered with Humble Bundle to create the E3 Digital Ticket, which resulted in over 174,000 purchases and $390,000 raised for charity.
