DrLupo Defends Nonbinary Representation in Battlefield 2042

DrLupo, a popular streamer, recently took a stand for nonbinary individuals during a livestream of Battlefield 2042. While trying out the new Hazard Zone mode with friends, he faced disruptive comments from viewers regarding the pronouns of a nonbinary character in the game.

Emma “Sundance” Rosier, a nonbinary Specialist in Battlefield 2042, identifies with they/them pronouns. When DrLupo mentioned the Specialist’s pronouns while navigating a game menu, a viewer questioned why this character was included.

DrLupo emphasized the importance of representation in gaming, stating, “As a white man, I don’t have to deal with a lack of representation since most games feature a white guy as the protagonist. It’s crucial to have representation for marginalized people. If you have a problem with it, it’s quite ridiculous. Using a different word isn’t difficult; it’s respectful and simple.”

Although DrLupo’s explanation addressed the viewer’s question, they continued to protest the use of the nonbinary pronouns. In response, DrLupo passionately stated, “If you have an issue with nonbinary or trans individuals, consider me a problem. Nonbinary individuals are part of my family, and I won’t tolerate any disrespect. It’s not a big deal to refer to a character as they were written.”

He concluded the discussion with a clear message: if you have an issue with him creating a safe space for all viewers, then simply refrain from watching his streams.

DrLupo concluded, “Just do me a favor, shut up, and don’t watch me anymore if you disagree. I have no problem with that, as I will protect anyone who needs a place to hang out.”

This isn’t the first time DrLupo has used his platform to address important topics. In May 2020, he spoke about the protests and riots sparked by the murder of George Floyd by police officers in the United States.
