Dream addresses criticism after confessing to cheating in speedrun: ‘I am a content creator, not a professional speedrunner’

Dream Clarifies Accidental Cheating in Minecraft Speedrun Controversy

Popular YouTube Minecraft content creator, Dream, recently admitted to accidentally cheating during a speedrun attempt in 2020. Following a wave of criticism, Dream responded to his critics, emphasizing that the incident had no impact on his regular content.

In a series of tweets posted on his second account Dreamwastaken, Dream clarified that he does not consider himself a speedrunner and participated in the contest purely for fun.

Dream clarified that despite gaining attention within the speedrunning community for the controversial run, he did not financially benefit from it in any way.

According to Dream, the invalid speedrun was streamed on Twitch without any donations enabled. He emphasized that he is not partnered on Twitch and it was never uploaded to any of his channels. He did not earn any money, views, or subscribers from it.

Additionally, Dream noted that the run was only mentioned in a single tweet on his second Twitter account and had no connection to his actual content or YouTube channel. It was purely a for-fun activity.

Yesterday, Dream released a since-deleted Pastebin statement, explaining his perspective on the cheating incident. He claimed to be unaware of game modifications that were active during the speedrun. Today, he acknowledged that criticism was warranted for his unintentional mistakes and expressed gratitude for speaking up, deeming it the right thing to do.

Despite the controversy, Dream reassured his fans that he plans to continue creating Minecraft content with his friends in the future.
