Dr Disrespect Shines in Shameless Self-Promotion on TimTheTatman’s Channel
Top Twitch streamers often leverage the platform to promote themselves and other streamers’ channels. In a bold move, Dr Disrespect took his self-promotion to new heights on TimTheTatman’s channel.
After Tim watched a thrilling cinematic for the highly-anticipated game, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, set to release in June, the opportunistic content creator admitted that while he found the trailer exciting, he has no plans to play the game personally.
Before watching the video, Tim expressed his disinterest in Assassin’s Creed, claiming it held no appeal for him. However, he later admitted that the video’s climactic fight scene was quite entertaining.
Despite this acknowledgment, Tim made it clear that he won’t be playing the game. Upon hearing this news, one of his viewers, who happened to be Dr Disrespect, decided to direct people to where they could find Assassin’s Creed gameplay in just over a month.
In Tim’s chat, Dr Disrespect wrote, “Wow, you’re not going to play that? Listen chat, I’ll definitely be playing a wide variety of games on my channel. Come check me out at Twitch.tv/drdisrespect.”
Immediately noticing that a top content creator was commenting in his chat, Tim paused to read out the Doc’s message to his viewers. Realizing it was simply a shameless plug, Tim could only laugh at Dr Disrespect’s attempt to steal his viewers. With a smirk, Tim responded to the comment in chat with just one word: “nice.”
While it’s common for streamers to engage in playful self-promotion while playing multiplayer games, it’s not every day that a top streamer invades another’s stream while offline to lure away viewers.
Of course, in this case, the attempt to “steal” viewers is mostly a joke. Tim typically streams in the morning, starting around 9am CT, while Dr Disrespect’s stream usually begins a few hours later in the afternoon on the East Coast.
