Complete Guide to Hikaru’s Twitch Ban

Hikaru Temporarily Banned from Twitch After Watching Dr Disrespect Video

Hikaru, a popular chess streamer on Twitch, was unexpectedly banned from the platform on March 22, 2022.

Prior to his ban, Hikaru took a risk by watching a video of the banned streamer, Dr Disrespect, during one of his streams. The video showcased Dr Disrespect playing a game of chess against fellow content creator DrLupo.

Despite the potential consequences, Hikaru brushed off the risk, stating, “Chill out, you guys. Do you think I care? This is chess.” He believed that since the content was focused on chess and with the uncertainty surrounding Dr Disrespect’s relationship with Twitch, he would be safe. However, eight days after watching the video, Hikaru received a three-day suspension.

Hikaru confirmed on Twitter that his ban was directly related to featuring Dr Disrespect. He quoted a tweet from Dr Disrespect saying, “The Doc tweeted that things are settled with Twitch. Guess he was wrong. See everyone in three days.”

Despite Dr Disrespect announcing the settlement of his legal case against Twitch, it seems that he is still not allowed to appear on the platform in any capacity. Unfortunately, Hikaru’s ban confirms this.

This is Hikaru’s first ban from the platform, and with only a three-day suspension, he will quickly return to streaming. However, he is less likely to feature Dr Disrespect in the future.
