‘Build Your Own Computer and Save $600’, Kristofer Yee Criticizes OTK’s StarForge PCs

Twitch Streamer Criticizes StarForge’s Pre-Built PCs

Twitch streamer and PC builder Kristofer Yee recently expressed strong criticism for StarForge’s newly released line of pre-built PCs. The brand, a collaboration between streaming collective OTK and content creator MoistCr1tikal, faced severe backlash from Yee.

Yee’s Expertise as a PC Builder

Kristofer Yee is a popular PC builder on YouTube known for breaking down hardware news and building PC rigs from scratch during his streams. He has even built PCs in unconventional environments, including doing a hot tub stream while building a PC.

The Warning about StarForge’s Creator Edition PC

In his review of StarForge’s Horizon Creator Edition PC, which is the most expensive model offered by the company, Yee cautioned his audience before considering a purchase. Despite its name implying suitability for streaming and content creation, Yee pointed out that the PC’s processor is not ideal for prospective content creators.

The Issue with the Processor

Yee expressed disbelief and disappointment, stating, “A literal Creator Edition PC for nearly $3,500, and you’re using a processor that is bad for content creation. You’re telling me that if I’m paying $3,500, you can’t spend $20 extra to get me the 12900K model, which is good for content creation?”

Yee emphasized that a slight upgrade to the processor would significantly enhance the PC’s ability to cater to content creators. He further criticized the price point by highlighting that building the same computer oneself could save $600.

StarForge, despite being relatively new in the market, has already faced significant challenges. Shortly after its launch, customers heavily criticized the company’s pricing, demanding upgrades for the high costs of their PCs. While StarForge has made adjustments to the prices of the Horizon PC, critics continue to express their dissatisfaction.
