Borderlands 3 Tricks summit1g with Clever Molotov Surprise

Jaryd “summit1g” Lazar Becomes Part of Borderlands 3 Easter Egg

Jaryd “summit1g” Lazar, a popular streamer, has been included in Borderlands 3 through an Easter egg reference. However, this reference is not so flattering.

Recently, a player tweeted about discovering a Molotov grenade in their backpack when playing Gearbox’s first-person shooter. This item is a playful jab at summit1g, reminding viewers of one of his most embarrassing moments during his professional Counter Strike: Global Offensive career.

The “Burning Summit” grenade explodes on impact and sets the user on fire. It even includes the streamer’s catchphrase, asking for “some 1G’s in the chat.”

The developers of Borderlands 3 added this item to reference summit1g’s unfortunate, yet amusing, loss in a professional CS:GO match.

During his time with Splyce, summit1g killed his opponent in a one-vs-one situation but then walked into the fire of his own Molotov before he could defuse the bomb. As a result, Splyce lost the round against CLG.

Since that day, killing oneself with a Molotov became known as “pulling a summit.”

Tyler “Ninja” Blevins, another popular streamer, recently referenced this by accidentally killing himself with a Molotov while playing the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare beta. In response, he screamed “Summit” to acknowledge his misplay.

Summit1g acknowledged this Easter egg on his Twitter, but he seemed hesitant to believe that Gearbox’s reference was real.

Summit1g isn’t the only streamer to be featured in Borderlands 3. Guy “Dr DisRespect” Beahm, a popular online personality, also has an Easter egg in the game with an item that references his catchphrase, “Violence. Speed. Momentum.”

With all the nods to streamer culture, it’s clear that Gearbox wants to keep the memes flowing in Borderlands 3.
