Blizzard’s World of Warcraft Servers Under DDoS Attack

Blizzard Servers Affected by DDoS Attack Causing Issues for World of Warcraft Players

Blizzard has confirmed that some of its servers are currently facing issues due to a DDoS attack targeted at the company. This attack has resulted in high latency and disconnections, particularly for players of World of Warcraft.

According to Blizzard’s customer support page, the game has been facing periods of high latency for the past few days. Players have also reported difficulty logging in or being disconnected from the servers during these periods.

A distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attack is a targeted assault that overwhelms a specific system by utilizing multiple systems and unique IP addresses or machines. This can render the targeted system completely unusable, preventing users from signing in.

This is not the first time Blizzard has encountered such issues. In the past year, they have dealt with two documented cases of DDoS attacks, reported in April and June. Currently, their support team is actively working to address and mitigate this issue.
